Replaceable

Expendable

Expiration Due

Ever felt this way?

Disposable, too?

So Prairie Pug fled

She packed up clothes

With no idea

of where she would go

She loaded up furniture

Of her Grandmere

She loaded up scrapbooks

Manic...fit of despair...

She thought not what

Of what would ensue

Harsh Punishment BUT

it WAS not her due

For she had worked hard

At clothing the nest

Supplied the furniture

And did her best...

At raising the children

So choices had they

To follow their work

And follow their play...

In their future lives

Perhaps not the ranch

But if so with "choices"

Not some random 'chance.'

Of working for Father

For he was proud, too

Of two great children

Their next lives all new...

Untethered by duty

Free to go without shame

Life was not by chance

Though Life is a game.

She rented a place

in 'Ta town that week

While Cattle Convention

In Denver did reek

of Men and cigars

Cigarette Smoke

Menger Bar

A stray Bloke

Yes, Riki Ellison

Saw from afar...

The cowboys from Kansas

With daughter, the star.

He wrote quite a poem

of love for the West

Gentlemen Suits

Sportcoats, but no vest.

She thinks he 'vised Boss

Of how one can maintain

Land in Boss hands

Prairie Pug with no Gain.

Investment in marriage

transfer to new wife

But in Kansas not kosher

For Executor to Life...

Of his father, Yes was

Amidst his designing

Estate in the middle

of IRS signing...

Off on the taxes

Yes, it took three years

Protected the privacy

Court brought about tears.

So divorce did continue

It was long past this thought

That Prairie Pug had

That lawyers, they bought...

That went on and on

"Pug" thought what expense?

To ruin my marriage

To follow the cents...

And with no pony...

there was now no Fence

To rein wild, crazy manic

To proceed and "hence..."

Not her, it was not

for she only wanting

Some help from outside

Problems had been daunting...

To divvy it up

Just when life was easy

Had she made a mistake?

It made her all queasy.

But...what happened

after u-haul event?

Post-nuptial agreement

Was how it all went.

Invited were lawyers

And they would play chess

Dirty it be

It was all a mess.

The first offer was lowball

To Prairie Pug came

$20,000 for signing

A house, but with shame.

For Title would NOT

Be in her name.

One year later.

There was a slight drama

in Two thousand Thirteen

A Marriage Ensued

But marriage between

Prairie Pug and Ranch

Was still intact

She laughed "sister wife"

But did hardly react.

For children were silent

It seemed so unjust

Son said, "you were done!

This message, for us!"

That was, "Do not cross me"

For (relationship severs)

If Betray the Father,

no future endeavors...

Without his funds

They would be just fine

No 'motional support

Now that was the line..

That forever is cut

But perhaps it's a threat

To control the children

To stay out of debt.

For future would bring

A decade of learnin'

And sometimes the ranch...

Well, there was a yearning

For doing it over,

in some other way

yet she knew that she tried it,

there was no other "play."

For Prairie Pug waited

And waited some more

'Til IRS settled

Then she knew the score.

It wasn't a bad score

Perhaps no "forever"

Did it give her an option

For her next Endeavor?

We will see.

Run for the high road!
