Swirling and Whirling…

The wind swirl'd and whirl'd...

As Merry would do, so did Prairie Pug...

she cartwheeled across the pastures...

"tumblin' along ...like the tumbling tumbleweeds."

It was not scary or painful, and she was now swept up but in control, not trotting away.

A dervish seeing a life flashing before her eyes.

a childhood in Kansas City growing up in an art gallery...

sketching in Paris...

a grand ball and a curtsy and falling in love...

and moving west...

But it was not her own.  This was Merry's.

Her implied leash, while long, had intertwined with the identity of family.

'Fence down...' she glimpsed.

'Pass through!' A voice said.

And Prairie Pug disappeared.

Everyone at The Ranch was sad and very quiet.

Then, it was still.
